Overview of Straight Pull Rifles

A straight pull rifle features a two motion cycle for each round. You pull the bolt handle back, then push forward to close. A conventional bolt action rifle, on the other hand, features a four motion cycle per round. You lift the bolt handle up, pull back, push forward, push down the bolt handle to close.
